A List of Favorite Smoothies

Are you looking to have a selection of great smoothies for your breakfast or for a snack? Here is some of my favorites and they taste fantastic.

Walnut Smoothie with Bananas & Blueberries

Walnut Smoothies make a great breakfast drink. Bananas are a perfect match with walnuts for a creamy base.  You can top them with just about any fruit and get a new flavor each time.  Try this fruity combination for a different smoothie treat!

  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 3 cold, medium bananas
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen blueberries
  • 2 cups unsweetened non-dairy milk (soy, almond, coconut, etc.)

Use a drink blender to blend for at least 20 seconds, until completely smooth.

Cashew Smoothie with Spinach and Cherries

This may sound like a strange combination, but it’s wonderfully sweet.  The frozen, sweet cherries and cashews together make this smoothie taste like a cherry malt. The banana lends its smooth thick texture and the spinach is only noticeable by its color.  If you’re looking to get more iron and fiber in your day, chug-a-lug on a Cashew smoothie with spinach and cherries.

  • 1/2 cup raw cashews
  • 2 cups baby spinach
  • 1 1/2 cup frozen, sweet cherries
  • 2 cold, medium bananas
  • 2 cups unsweetened, non-dairy milk (soy, almond, coconut, etc.)

Blend on high in a drink blender for at least 20 seconds, until the nuts are completely ground.

Creamy Peach Banana Smoothie

When peaches are in season we can enjoy all sorts of different peach recipes.  You can enjoy frozen pureed peaches, peach ice cream, fresh peaches and these creamy peach banana smoothies.   Makes 8 cups (1 1/2 liters)

  • 2 1/2 cups ripe peaches, peeled & pitted
  • 3 cold ripe bananas
  • 3 cups unsweetened non-dairy milk
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons agave nectar or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Blend on high in a drink mixer until super smooth, about 20 seconds.  Add 1/2 cup water if the consistency is too thick.

Popeye’s Citrus Smoothie

It is called Popeye’s Citrus Smoothie because it has all the bright flavors of orange and strawberry, with an iron punch from the spinach. The banana really helps to bring the group together with it’s creaminess.

  • 1 heaping cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 heaping cup fresh baby spinach
  • 1 large, ripe banana
  • 4 clementine oranges, peeled and seeded
  • 1 cup water

Blend well with an electric drink mixer for at least 20 seconds, or until you can’t see any spinach bits.  Feel free to add a splash more water if the mix is too thick for you.
