Fun Workouts at the Beach

It is summer and who wants to have to work out indoors at the gym or at home. Why not find some fun workouts at the beach. Yes, take your exercise outside and get some fresh air and sunshine. There are lots of ways to get a good workout at the beach.

Here are some different ways you can get your exercise while at the beach!

High-Intensity Interval Training

Workouts at the BeachHigh-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) are great exercises to do at the beach. In fact, they should only take a few minutes so you can still enjoy some downtime.

With this form of exercise you just need five to ten minutes. You will be able to do an intense workout that burns a bunch of calories and get you into shape.

What is so good about HIIT workouts is that you will be able to work out your entire body in such a short period of time.

In order to warm up your body, you will want to start with 30 seconds of lunges or squats. Then you can do other exercises making sure you use as much intensity as possible with each one.

Exercises that you can do are the plank drag, side shuffle, and single leg bounding.

Here is a little information on how to do them:

Plank Drag: The plank drag uses a weight that you pull from side to side. This exercise tests the upper-body and core strength, balance, and endurance.

Side Shuffle: Stand with your feet a little wider than hip width and bend your hips and knees back and point your toes forward. Take a few quick steps to the right and then touch your right foot with your right hand. Repeat on the left side.

Running Sprints on the Beach

This is also a form of high-intensity workouts. Sprints will get the blood pumping and require you to exercise intensely. As well it is harder to run on sand. You probably won’t be able to run as fast as you would on a flat, hard surface.

Your legs and abdominal muscles will probably feel the burn pretty quickly. One way to mix it up is to try a sprint, then HIIT workout and then a light stroll back to the other side of the beach. Workouts at the BeachYou can repeat this routine as many times as you want to.

Throwing a Frisbee

This is one of those workouts at the beach that doesn’t seem like exercise. You can have a lot of fun throwing a frisbee with a friend or even your dog.

Start by standing a few feet away from the catcher and then every time someone catches the frisbee, move back a foot or two.

Keep doing this until you are too far and can no longer catch or throw the Frisbee. If you want to extend this exercise, you can reverse by walking back towards each other.

Swimming in the Water

It would seem a waste if you are at the beach and you don’t go swimming. Workouts at the beach don’t have to be the kind of exercises you do at the gym. In fact, swimming is great exercise.

You not only get to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine but you get to workout and it won’t even feel like exercise!
