Try to do just 20 minutes of strength training, focusing on a different muscle group every day. You can use dumbbells, kettlebells, or other workout equipment if you want, but there are also a number of strength training exercises that use your body weight. That means that you can get in strength training anywhere and without needing to set up a home gym.

Interval Training or High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

You can do interval training with nearly any type of aerobics or cardio exercise. The reason interval training is so effective is that it allows you burn more calories than just doing regular cardio exercises.

Since these are short bursts of exercises, your body will burn calories in less time and as a result, your metabolism will get a boost.

Interval training is great for people who want to build stamina as well. You push yourself for a short period of time, then take a rest by slowing down a bit and then speeding up again.

This is how interval training works. Try to exercise for 20 seconds making sure you push yourself as hard as you are able. Then you take a short break for 10 seconds but you keep moving. You then can repeat this pattern for up to 30 minutes.

You can an amazing workout in a short period of time. Something else to consider: if you get bored easily with exercise this is a good way to overcome that boredom.

Another example: run as hard as you can for 10 seconds, then walk for 1 minutes and then repeat this pattern for five times. This pattern is a good one for those who are just beginning to exercise or for people who are overweight.

Something New – Burpees

This is an exercise that combines strength training and cardio and is one of the best exercises to boost metabolism. It not only gets your heart rate going because it is a high-intensity exercise, but it also works out all of your major muscle groups. That means you’ll get a temporary boost in metabolism from the cardio and a permanent boost from working your muscles.

How to do a burpee: start in a standing position. Squat down with your hands in front of you on the ground. You then jump back so that you end up in a push-up position and you do one push-up. Now jump forward and leap upwards. You want to reach your hands up as high as possible. Start with doing a couple and then just keeping adding each time until you can do as many as you are able in a short amount of time.
